The Battle

Nicky Gumbel, Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton, and developer of the Alpha course, said in my Devotional this week,

“The Christian life is a Battle. I have been following Jesus for four decades. As I look back at these years, they have been years of great blessing – more than I could have asked or imagined. At the same time, there have been many challenges and obstacles. There have been very few periods when I have not been facing some kind of battle.”

Would you agree with this? I know that when our team went to Malawi, we all knew there was a battle going on. Every page of Nik Ripken’s book The Insanity of Obedience shouted, “There is a battle going on!”

But what about you and I? Is it because we live in this great nation that we are not in a battle? Or are we just not as aware?

Today, it is good to know that our God is with us. He has never left us alone. Praise God!
