Missions Spotlight – Britney

Hello Everyone!!

Praying that you all had an amazing Easter, just writing a quick update on what I’ve been up to.

23rd-25th of March was the OM National Conference, where the interns were able to meet the extended ‘OM family’. We meet up with so many people who have amazing hearts for God. This weekend was all about ‘Resting in Christ’ and how we go about doing that, whether we stop for a few hours a day (or even the whole day) and refocus ourselves on God and his purpose for us in our lives.

Over the Easter weekend for four days the interns volunteered to do a ‘sausage sizzle’ with more variety of food to offer. Two other interns spoke in front of an audience of youth and teenagers, promoting OM and the Journey Internship more. We were so happy to do the sausage sizzle and learnt more about serving others through God. We were all very exhausted by the end of the weekend, but definitely loved spending more time with each other as interns.

This past weekend, my family were able to come down and spend some time with me over the school holidays and I loved catching up with them. We walked to the Botanical Gardens and walked around the Army Memorial, which was amazing!

On Monday, Lachy and I spent the day at Melbourne Zoo with Hannah and enjoyed looking at all the animals. Highlights for me were the Elephants, wombats and sleeping Lions…. So cute!!

I also got to experience the Melbourne night life as well as going on the Melbourne Star (bigger and better than the Brisbane Ferris wheel!). The night views from the Star is amazing!

My recent big assessment was an introduction to the book of Ruth and through that I learnt about how she was able to leave her old life behind and follow Naomi back to Bethlehem. Ruth was a very brave and loyal woman that decided to give her heart to God. This week we spoke of Prophesies and did an activity which was very interesting. It’s amazing how God can speak through his people to bring words of encouragement.

Prayer points:
Interns – we are all very exhausted at the moment and have so much on and so much to learn.
School holidays – finishing up so soon I’ll be able to go back to NewHope after renovations to extend the building, and build more relationships with the kids!!! Also for year 12’s going back into the craziness of their final year of school.
Health – going from hot days to cold days is something I’m not quite used to. Sickness goes around the office easily so pray for everyone’s health at OM.

God bless,

Britney
