He has come to His people

Being the end of November, we are about to embark on the Christmas season that will bring all sorts of celebratory events to our calendars. Holidays, Christmas parties, time spent with family and friends, carol events and the like.

And for those of us who live on the Coast, with family members who live a couple of hours away, it also often means… visitors!

Each year over Christmas our house is full of people, and it’s a wonderful blessing to have them all come and stay. Yes, its chaotic, noisy and crazy… but its good! And when you think about it, what better way to celebrate the coming King, who not only came to visit us in the first century, He came to stay in the hearts of His followers forever.

The opening line from Zechariah’s song in Luke’s Gospel declares:

“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come to his people and redeemed them.”

This morning as we look at Zechariah’s song, may we welcome this visiting King who has come to us, and accept His offer of redemption!
