On the Emmaus road

This week we are looking at one of my favourite Passages in the Bible (yes I know I say that all the time), Luke 24:13-35.

I’m not alone in thinking this passage is amazing. N.T. Wright (I know him as Tommy) considers the detailed narration of the Emmaus journey in Luke to be one of the best sketches of a biblical scene in the Gospel of Luke and Jan Lambrecht, citing D. P. Moessner, writes: “the Emmaus story is one of Luke’s ‘most exquisite literary achievements’.”

Wow! But how about you and me, in the midst of the everyday? What does it say to us?

This Sunday we’ll look into it together. In the meantime, reflect on this verse from the Keith Green song, My Eyes are Dry:

My eyes are dry
My faith is old
My heart is hard
My prayers are cold
And I know how I ought to be
Alive to You and dead to me

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday and connecting together.
