Redemption and Inheritance

3 July 2020

This week we’re looking at Redemption and Inheritance, two more of the many blessings we have in Christ. The message throughout the entire Bible helps us to understand.

It starts as we cause the broken relationship with God; we are guilty (lsaiah 53:6a). The honour and justice of God’s character was offended by sin.

We became slaves to sin (John 8:34-36). We could not undo this, avoid the penalty of death, or be good enough to pay the debt (Romans 3:23, 6:23; Galatians 2:16).

God could have just walked away, but He did not (Deuteronomy 7:9).

No one could pay the price except God, Himself (Acts 4:12). God is holy and just, and yet God is also steadfast love (Psalm 107). He made a way for us to be restored to Him (2 Corinthians 5:19). The only way to do this was to satisfy the debt (Colossians 2:14), defeat the certainty of death (2 Timothy 1:10), and break the shackles of sin (Psalm 107:14).

So He did (Romans 8:3).

God sent His only Son, Jesus, so that whoever believes in Him can be saved and redeemed (John 3:16, 36).

Being redeemed is being restored to relationship with God (Galatians 4:4-7).

Only Jesus,
