Living in a foreign land

As Christians we are living in a foreign land that is not our home. We are exiles. We do not belong to any nation of earth we belong to the rule of God. How are we to respond? Do we just compromise, and adopt the way of life of those around us? Or do we rise up against the powers that be, fighting for revolution?

Peter and the other Apostles address this question, because it was a very real problem for the early church. How do we stay firmly committed to God, while living in a world that is ambivalent at best to His ways? It seems like a choice between two bad options, but maybe there is a third way; a way that enables us to live at peace in this world (without compromise, or revolt), while standing firm in the Way of Jesus.
