Jesus said, “When you pray…”

Have you ever assumed something? I have, and it often gets me into trouble. Do you ever wonder if Jesus assumed anything?

This week we’ll start a series from Matthew 6, on what we know as ‘The Lord’s Prayer’. This first week, which is a kind of ‘prelude’, we read Jesus’ words when you give, or fast, or pray. Do you see his assumption there? Jesus begins each teaching with the word ‘when’.

So, how is our giving going? How is our fasting going? How is our praying going?

Praying is something that I love, and yet still find myself needing to get my head around to be on track. In the past 41 years I have tried 101 things to help me pray! I’ve kept a journal (still do), followed the A.C.T.S., P.A.C.T., Inner Monk, Prayer Walks, Prayer Triplets, Prayer Partners, Closet Prayer, confession, repentance, praise, and so many more patterns or frameworks to guide my prayer life.

So, how do you pray? When do you pray? Where to you pray? Have you found the answer? I’m super keen to see my prayer life become as described in James 5:16, for ‘The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.’

God bless you heaps. Why not join us on the incredible journey that is prayer.

Only Jesus,
Dony
