May Mission Month – School Chaplaincy

This Sunday we have the privilege of hearing from Mark Green, who is the School Chaplain at one of our local schools, Kawana Waters State College.

SU QLD chaplains, or ‘chappies’, provide spiritual and emotional support to school communities. They are in the prevention and support business: helping students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness, to drug abuse, depression and anxiety.

They provide a listening ear and a caring presence for children and young people in crisis, and those who just need a friend. They also provide support for staff and parents in school communities.” (SU Qld, School Chaplaincy, 2021, https://www.suqld.org.au/services/chaplaincy/)

We are all aware of the ever-growing challenges faced by the children and youth in our society, and the pressures and needs of our local families across all areas of life. School Chaplains like Mark play a vital supporting role, one that is impossible without the power of God and the prayers and support of his local brothers and sisters in Christ.

Please join us on Sunday as Mark opens God’s Word for us, and also shares about his ministry.
