Our Spiritual life is like a journey

In my walk with Jesus I have often had times of extreme struggle. It has been easy to fall into the trap of thinking that something was wrong with me. But the more I have studied the Bible, the more I see that this is the norm… The Psalms are full of people wrestling with their experiences on this planet.

Psalm 73:21-26
When my heart was embittered
And I was pierced within,
Then I was stupid and ignorant;
I was like an animal before You.
Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You have taken hold of my right hand.
You will guide me with Your plan,
And afterward receive me to glory.
Whom do I have in heaven but You?
And with You, I desire nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

The Spiritual life is not just high point after high point. It is more like a journey. There are no quick fixes; no short-cuts. But one thing is certain, that Jesus is walking right beside us. This week we will be exploring the second phrase in our vision statement Being Transformed into the likeness of Christ.
