A life of witness
‘This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
The old life is gone a new life has begun.
Stop for a moment and imagine you are back in early church days, where Roman persecution is everywhere. No matter if you are male or female, young or old, rich or poor, if you followed Jesus you could be imprisoned and, most likely, martyred.
Now what church services did they have in place? Big flash buildings, best coffee, air con, kicking band, bright lights, smoke machine, amazing kids program? No, they had none of the above. They met in the catacombs, in hiding. So how did the early church grow? By living a life of witness.
Here is something very interesting. The Greek word for witness is mártus. Look familiar? It’s the root of the English word martyr.
I am looking forward to opening up the Word again this Sunday.
God bless you one and all.
Only Jesus,
Dony
