A generous life

Have you ever received a gift that caught you completely by surprise? Something you were not expecting… something that was overly generous? Something you felt very uncomfortable accepting? What was your response?

“You shouldn’t have.”
“I couldn’t possibly.”
“No, no, you keep it!”

The way of Jesus is one of great generosity, and it’s comforting to know that statistically, christians exhibit a higher than average generosity compared to the broader community. But when it comes to receiving… are we doing that well? Are we following Jesus’ example in this regard?

Today we will be looking at Mark 14, and understanding how Jesus practiced the ‘art of receiving’. As we engage more and more with our neighbours through ‘My Oikos’, and demonstrate what a generous life in the Kingdom of God is like, it is our prayer that others will ‘catch’ this, and live more generously towards others.

And when they do, it is my hope and prayer that we can follow Jesus’ example in the ‘art of recieving’.
