Jacob

In the Old Testament, when the people of Israel spoke of who their God was, they called Him ‘the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’.

Three mere men, revered, righteous, faithful. Men who trusted in, followed and connected with God – some of the time.

This Sunday we get to look at the last one, Jacob. Some might say he was the ‘worst’ of the three, if you think about the cunning, deceitful, ‘smart’ things he did. Yet, it was Jacob who wrestled with the Angel and overcame. He was blessed with riches and two wives. He gets the name change, and the nation is later named after him. The names of his sons are given to the twelve tribes of Israel (well, for a while). So how does all this come about? Why do all these good things happen to Jacob?

Join us this Sunday, 2nd October, as we delve into the man, the promise and the blessing of Jacob.
